Cat visits the neighbor's window every day looking for his dog friend who passed away

It has been a year since Gracie passed away, a dog that was the best friend of the cat Baby Gray. But, she still shows up for her scheduled appointments. Like a clock, she walks around the yard every day and stops at the sliding door, hoping that her friend will come running to meet her in the glass. There, she waits, sometimes for 20 minutes, or longer.
, the mother of Gracie, noticed for the first time that the mysterious cat visited her yard two and a half years ago and since then she and her family call her "Baby Gray". They do not know his real name, but they think he lives two streets from his house.

When Baby Gray first climbed into the fenced backyard of Gracie's family, the dog immediately greeted her, she was more interested in making friends than in frightening the intruders.

Gracie was a friend of everyone on her property, from squirrels and rabbits to hawks, and of course she was very eager to learn more about the most recent visitor.

    Shea told The Dodo:

"Gracie accepted her in our backyard immediately and the two quickly became friends."

Over time, Baby Gray's visits became more frequent. Gracie was always a generous hostess when her friend suddenly appeared, and they seemed to be soulmates. They even shared the food.

Her family left Gracie tomatoes on the porch, as they were her favorite gift, and she shared them with the cat and then they sunbathed together.

Gracie would do anything for her friends and family, she even saved Shea from an attack of a water moccasin snake when she was just an 8-month-old puppy.

    Shea said:

"She had a sweet personality. She was a friend of all and was very motherly, especially for our Yorkie. "

At the end of October 2017, just after Gracie's 12th birthday, the family noticed that the dog was slowing dramatically. So they took her to the vet and after numerous tests and x-rays the cause was revealed: Gracie had cancer.

Then, Gracie spent most of her last days on the cold porch. Her family says part of that gave her some relief but, in reality, they think she was saying goodbye to her territory and all her friends in her yard.

And, sure enough, Baby Gray was there.

    Shea said:

"Baby Gray came to see her several times in her last days and, while they did not eat tomato, the two of them were just there to be together. They had that kind of connection where nothing needed to be said or done. They just wanted to be with each other. "

Gracie died in November 2017, less than a month after her diagnosis. And although her death has been very difficult for everyone, Baby Gray seems to be dealing with her pain by celebrating a special kind of vigil for her friend.

That's it, or she refuses to believe that the dog has really left.

Since the death of Gracie, several times a week Baby Gray arrives at the patio, first arrives at the door and looks for Gracie, sometimes waits 20 minutes and then goes to the porch where she sits for a while before she finally gets down and I sunbathed.

"It breaks my heart to see Baby Gray still looking for Gracie. But at the same time it gives me a lot of hope that these two animals had such a strong bond. "

    1. A very beautiful story. It truly breaks my heart, when someone says, its just an animal! They have great big hearts and love us forever, whatever. We, as humans should take notice! My pet is adored and much loved!

    3. Shea, have you got anything that Baby Grey will associate with Gracie? A photo of them together, the bowl where they ate tomatoes, a rug….I know it's been almost 2 years, but Baby Grey sounds like "your humans are still here, where are you, my friend?" My cat, Boots, couldn't understand when my little sister's kitten, Tigga, went missing; Boots liked to walk on a leash with me daily, so when I went around the neighbours calling "Tigga, Tigga," Boots got his leash; I knew he wanted to come with me to find his little buddy. Boots sniffed his way around streets, then blocks, then suburbs; began climbing trees, to get a better view. He left half his meals, in case Tigga arrived suddenly and was hungry. We never found her. Boots got depressed, stopped his daily walks for a few months; only started again when I told him I was moving out in 4 weeks, he got his leash again. After I'd moved back home 5 years later, to the he died,12 years later, of cancer, any time any one said "tiger" sounds like Tigga, Boots head would go up, alert, tail wagging, despite how pain he was in. Our fur babies have astounding memories
