Madden, age 7, from Oklahoma, was born with a cleft lip and palate, as well as heterochromia (eyes of different colors), and some at school thought it would be fun to tease the child about his unique appearance. Fortunately, he found a way to deal with those people.
Christina Humphreys told Love What Matters:
"Last week, a friend posted an image of the cat in our group of 'leporine mothers'. This kitten was taken by a rescue group in Minnesota. We knew immediately that this kitten should be part of our family. Not only does he have a cleft lip like our 7 year old son Madden, he also has complete iridum heterochromia, like Madden. They were destined to be best friends. It's funny how a pet can make you feel less alone. "
Having found Moon (as the cat was called), is for Madden almost a miracle

Christina said:
"The heterochromia iridum is when a part of the iris has at least two colors. The complete iridum heterochromia is where the eyes are completely different colors, it is quite rare, that exists in less than 1% of the population, they tell me. That, plus the cleft lips, is exceptionally rare. "

Madden's mother says that her friends kindly helped them finance a road trip so they could travel from Oklahoma to Minnesota and adopt that sweet kitten.
Christina said:
"Normally we are not spontaneous people, but we knew that we should love this kitten. Moon, the kitten and Madden are the perfect companions for each other. In a world full of thugs and hateful words, we will choose to pursue love. "
