Willie Ortiz is a man from Puerto Rico who currently resides in Hartford, Connecticut, he is 76 years old and a heart of gold. Willie has spent the last 24 years of his life feeding the homeless cats of the city.
Like most large cities, Hartford has a large population of cats that are constantly rejected by people.
Willie told The Dodo:
"I saw a lot of stray cats, and people were pushing and kicking them."

This man has always had the will to help these animals, but not being able to adopt them all, he decided to start providing them with food, castrating them and sterilizing them, when a cat is sick, he takes them home and takes care of them with a lot of love, also is responsible for finding them home.

Willie said:
"They need help. I want to make sure they have food and are healthy. "
According to Kathleen Schlentz, a friend of this man, he is currently caring for approximately 68 homeless cats in 16 different colonies.

This kind man has been taking care of homeless cats for more than 20 years
A colony is a group of cats that live together in a specific place, such as a garbage container or an abandoned building.

Kathleen said:
"The colonies are always changing. Sometimes cats are hit by cars, other cats roam, or people abandon them when they can not take care of them, or do not want to take care of them, so the colonies change all the time. "

Willie does not have much money and he spends all day collecting scrap metal and cleaning gardens to afford food for cats. Fortunately, he has the help of Kathleen, who created a website and a GoFundMe account to raise funds.

Kathleen said:
"He works hard physically, and I do not know how he does it. He has been doing this for years, and cats have been fed daily. "

Kathleen added:
"He is really a humble man. Some people will say, 'Why do you spend your money on cats?' And he will tell you: 'Because they are cats.' "

Willie is a real man who has a heart of gold for the lives of these cats. Thank you so much Willie for helping God's creatures live a more wholesome life!
